On Wednesday, 15-6-05, the 3rd and 4th SMAS Workshops will be held jointly at the Science Park Ideon (Beta House), Scheelevägen 17, Lund, Sweden.

It is organized as International Workshop Improving handling of meat products in the chill chain and at the consumer level - TTI (Time Temperature Indicators) development and application and is cosponsored by the SMAS project and SIK.

10/01/2005 - International Symposium "Safety and shelf life assessment of meat products in Europe"

On Friday, 18-2-05, the 2nd SMAS Workshop will be held at the Conference center De Reehorst in Ede, Netherlands. It is organized as International Symposium Safety and shelf life assessment of meat products in Europe and is cosponsored by the SMAS project, TNO Quality of Life, Department Microbiology and the Dutch Society of Microbiology (NVvM), section Food Microbiology.

At the three-day conference Integrating Safety and Nutrition Research along the Food Chain: The New Challenge, which was organised by Institut National de la Recherche Agronomique (INRA) and Société Scientifique d’Hygiène Alimentaire (SSHA) with the support of the European Commission and took place in Lille on 27, 28 and 29 October 2004, [www.lille.inra.fr] a poster for the SMAS project was presented by Dr. S. Notermans of TNO.

03/10/2003 - Workshop “Mathematical modelling on safety and spoilage of meat"

In the morning of Wednesday, 1-10-03, the Workshop on Mathematical modelling on safety and spoilage of meat was organized by the project in conjunction with the International Symposium on the Epidemiology and control of Foodborne Pathogens in Pork, SAFE PORK (1-4 October,2003), Crete.

The Workshop was successfully held at Creta Maris Hotel, Hersonissos, Heraklion, Crete.

The Workshop was free for attendance by interested participants from Universities, Industry and Regulatory Authorities. It was attended by an international audience of 80 participants. Presentations and following discussions were very well received. Microbial modeling and in particular the ComBase tool and the SMAS project were the focus of attention.
